Remembrance 2026: 136 Squadron stands proud

On a solemn and poignant day for the community, over 50 cadets aged 12 to 18 turned out in force for the annual Remembrance Day parade in Chipping Norton. Led by Officer Commanding, Squadron Leader Dan Holden, the squadron demonstrated impeccable standards, discipline, and respect as they marched through the town to honour the fallen.

The parade marks the culmination of an intensive period of commitment from the squadron. In the two weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday, cadets and volunteers supported the local Poppy Appeal in Chipping Norton, raising vital funds and awareness for the Royal British Legion.

Reflecting on the turnout and the dedication of the young people, Squadron Leader Dan Holden said:

"I am incredibly proud of every single cadet who stood on parade today. Seeing over 50 of our young people, aged 12 to 18, step forward with such maturity and dedication is a testament to the values of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. Their support for the Poppy Appeal over the past fortnight shows that the spirit of remembrance and community service is alive and well in Chipping Norton."

A message from the 136 Squadron Civilian Committee:

“The Civilian Committee was immensely proud to see the cadets of 136 Squadron take part in this year’s Remembrance Parade. Their smart turnout, discipline and respectful conduct were a credit to the Squadron and demostrated the values and standards that makes us proud to support them.

We would especially like to recognise our newest cadets who attended for the first time. Participating in such a significant community event takes confidence and commitment, and they represented themselves and 136 Squadron admirably.

On behalf of the Civilian Committee, thank you to every cadet and volunteer who contributed to making the day such a success. It was wonderful to see the Squadron honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and all who took part should be extremely proud of their contribution.”
